About Eric Porter
While Eric has lived the majority of his life in Allston, his path in life prepared him to serve his community. He grew up as part of a large family in the metro Detroit area and obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Southern California in downtown Los Angeles. Living in Los Angles allowed Eric to experience one of the most diverse communities in America. The City of Angels is filled with lively, vibrant communities represented from all over the globe.
Two years after graduation, Eric moved to Massachusetts. He sought out a culturally-rich, spirited community and was lead to Allston where he has resided for nearly 25 years.
As a lifelong entrepreneur, Eric has launched several successful companies, and managed and grown many types of businesses across a wide array of industries. Eric lead an INC 500 award winning company in 1998. He ran an inbound call center in Nashua, NH, and for eight years, Eric owned a captioning company that provided live television news captioning to serve the deaf community.
Eric has owned a two-family home in Allston and has helped students and young professionals from Massachusetts to China integrate into the neighborhood he calls home. He has served as a liason between the young and old residents, and has tirelessly worked to maintain a diverse, safe, enjoyable district for home owners and renters alike. He has invested time with his tenants over the years to educate them on tenant rights and the path to home ownership. Eric believes residents of Allston Brighton should have an accessible path to equity in the neighborhood through home ownership rather than endlessly filling the pockets of massive landlords.
